NEW YORK — Officers patrolling New York Metropolis’s harbor in a police boat have noticed a whale within the East River.

The New York Police Division’s particular operations division posted a photograph of the weird vacationer on its Twitter account Saturday morning.

The whale was seen swimming alongside the shores of Manhattan’s higher East Aspect, near Gracie Mansion, the place the mayor lives.

U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Frank Iannazzo-Simmons says officers from his workplace haven’t seen the whale. However he says based mostly on the photographs it seems to be a humpback whale.

Iannazzo-Simmons says the Coast Guard often notifies mariners when it spots whales in busy waterways to be protected and “let the whale be the whale.”
